Gollancz, Israel

Gollancz, Israel
   English literary scholar, brother of Hermann Gollancz. He was a lecturer in English at University College, London (1892-5), and then at Cambridge University. In 1903 he became professor of English at King's College, London. He published studies of Shakespeare and early English literature and philology. He served on the council of Jews College for several years.
